Speed Cube World
Speed Cube World (speedcube.world) is an independently operated personal project, not a company or organization. In these policies, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the individual who operates the project and is responsible for its personal-data processing. For legal questions, privacy requests, or content concerns, use the email below.
Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small values sent with requests to a website. Local storage stays in your browser and can remember preferences between visits. We use both types where needed; optional categories are off by default.
Cookie and storage inventory
Local storage is included because the same consent rules can apply even when a technology is not technically a cookie. First-party items are stored for this site; third-party items belong to the named provider. Browser limits may shorten the durations below.
On smaller screens, scroll each table sideways to see every column.

Essential storage
The tables identify necessary preference storage and the editor authentication cookie. Local-storage preferences are limited to this browser and origin. NEXT_LOCALE is a session cookie; the editor token has a two-hour default lifetime. Blocking necessary storage may prevent preferences or editor sign-in from working, but rejecting analytics and marketing does not prevent ordinary reading.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and features are used and improve the site. Analytics is optional. With your analytics consent, Google may process browser identifiers, device and page information, and usage events. Enabling videos alone does not give analytics permission. The tables list analytics cookies and their documented default lifetimes; these are not deletion deadlines for all analytics data.
Marketing and videos
No advertising service is currently configured. The Marketing and videos choice controls YouTube and Vimeo embeds, and is reserved for advertising tags if added later. Players can receive your IP address, browser details, and playback activity and may access existing provider storage. YouTube embeds use its privacy-enhanced domain, which is not a guarantee of no data processing. Future advertising services must be disclosed here before activation.
Changing or withdrawing consent
Use Cookie settings in the footer to accept all, reject optional categories, or save separate choices. Choices are requested again after 180 days or a consent-version change. Withdrawing an enabled category reloads the page to stop previously loaded scripts and removes known, accessible first-party analytics or marketing cookies. Browser settings can remove remaining cookies, including third-party or HttpOnly cookies the site cannot clear.
Third-party services and your choices
Analytics and videos are separate optional choices and are off by default. Google provides our analytics service; YouTube and Vimeo provide embedded videos. These providers may receive information when you allow their services, as described in the privacy policy. Allowing one category does not grant permission for the other. We do not currently use advertising services.
Consent, legal basis, and your rights
Optional storage and third-party embeds require your prior, freely given, specific consent. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, the basis for related personal-data processing is consent under Article 6(1)(a). Strictly necessary storage supports services or preferences you request, subject to applicable ePrivacy and PECR rules and their exceptions. You can reject optional categories without losing access and withdraw through the same Cookie settings control used to accept. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing. For access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, or objection requests where applicable, email [email protected]. You may complain to your competent data-protection authority, including the ICO in the UK.
Recipients and international processing
Our hosting and security providers process technical information to deliver and protect the site. Google and video providers receive information when their relevant optional services are enabled. We use European data storage, but international providers may also process information elsewhere. Transfers subject to UK/EEA restrictions require an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards. See the privacy policy and provider references above, or contact [email protected] for information about safeguards applicable to your data.
Browser controls and retention
Use Cookie settings for this site's choices, and your browser's privacy controls to inspect or delete cookies and local storage. Local storage does not expire automatically: the site discards its consent record after 180 days, while other preferences remain until changed or cleared. Cookie lifetimes can be shortened by your browser, renewed by the provider, or changed in service settings. Clearing cookies may sign you out or reset preferences. This site cannot directly delete HttpOnly or third-party storage; manage those through the browser or provider. Browser blocking alone is not treated as consent.
Updates and further details
See the privacy policy for the site's providers, retention criteria, personal-data processing, and your rights. We update this page and its date when storage practices change. Material changes to optional purposes or providers require an updated notice and a fresh consent choice where needed. Questions about cookies can be sent to [email protected].
